{"id":948,"date":"2015-08-14T20:32:59","date_gmt":"2015-08-14T20:32:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ricksmotorsportelectrics.com\/tips\/?p=948"},"modified":"2018-05-24T14:10:37","modified_gmt":"2018-05-24T18:10:37","slug":"stator-installation-guide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ricksmotorsportelectrics.com\/blog\/stator-installation-guide\/","title":{"rendered":"Stator Installation Guide"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Installing the stator correctly<\/h2>\n<p>Stators are built to fit a specific bolt pattern, with the wiring led off in a certain place and with the grommet aligned to fit a specific routing pattern. \u00a0Care must be taken when installing these components to make sure they are aligned correctly. \u00a0Failure to do so may result in irreparable damage to the stator.<\/p>\n<p>DON&#8217;T: Install the stator upside-down. \u00a0This is the most common installation error. The harness side of the stator must be opposite the flywheel. \u00a0Installing upside-down and trying to route the harness between the stator and flywheel will result in severe damage to the harness and may also irreparably damage the stator and flywheel.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1396\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/statorinstallation_image1-300x228.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"228\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ricksmotorsportelectrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/statorinstallation_image1-300x228.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ricksmotorsportelectrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/statorinstallation_image1-768x585.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ricksmotorsportelectrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/statorinstallation_image1.jpg 804w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In this diagram, note the position of the harness relative to the flywheel. \u00a0Be absolutely certain when you install the stator that the harness and flywheel are positioned so as to not interfere with each other.<\/p>\n<p>DO: Route the wires correctly in the crankcase. \u00a0There is usually a groove for the harness to fit into, often with a metal retainer to keep it in place. \u00a0Make sure the wires are not creating any interference points and the grommet is correctly positioned so there are no bunched wires sticking out. Make sure the harness sits properly inside the channel.\u00a0 Install metal guide retainer and any retaining screws \u00a0(if applicable)<span style=\"overflow: hidden; display: inline-block; margin: high-quality gasket material.<\/p>\n<p>DO: Make sure the mounting bolts are torqued to the manufacturer&#8217;s specifications, and that the threads in the mounting boss are in good condition (if not,
